SUMMARY:Engineering: Mechanics\, Materials\, Design
DESCRIPTION:Event description\n\n	\n	\n	\n\n\n\n	\n\n\n \n	\n	\n \n	The Environmental Engineering short course is offered by IHE Delft Institute for Water Education. \nSeveral simple and advanced techniques to produce reliable drinking water from groundwater and surface water (water treatment) are used world-wide. To limit environmental pollution\, wastewater has to be treated; an overview of basic processes available for the treatment of domestic and industrial wastewater is given in wastewater treatment. \n\n	\n\n\n\n \n	\n	\n \n	Upon completion\, the participant should be able to : \n◎ Describe different biological processes and their engineering applications for wastewater treatment ◎ Categorize different air pollutants and distinguish the different physico-chemical and biological air pollution control techniques for particulate and gaseous contaminants; ◎ Apply basic thermodynamic principles to determine reaction rates of environmental processes under a given set of operating conditions
